Jaguars trade DL Calais Campbell to the Ravens for a 5th-round pick

On Sunday March 15th, the Jaguars agreed to trade star pass rusher Calais Campbell to the Ravens for a fifth-round pick. The Jaguars are cleaning house and are in a full rebuild. They’ve traded Jalen Ramsey, are trading A.J. Bouye and now Campbell and are definitely looking to trade more, like Nick Foles and recently franchise tagged Yannick Ngakoue. Jaguars fans are having a rough couple seasons, after making the AFC Championship in 2017 with a legendary defense, it’s been an absolute free fall. The only defensive starter from that team still projected to be on the team is Myles Jack…that’s it. Ngakoue, Campbell, Malik Jackson, Marcell Dareus, Telvin Smith, Paul Posluzny, Ramsey, Bouye, Barry Church, Tashaun Gipson, all likely gone.

Now for the other side of the deal, the Ravens got a freaking steal. Campbell is 33 years old and still an absolute beast. The 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year will bring leadership to a dominant Ravens defense that lacked pass rush outside of Matt Judon, who was just franchise tagged. And they only gave up a fifth-round pick, plus they are reportedly working on a new contract for Campbell, so he’ll be locked in into Baltimore for years to come.

Ravens are a great defense and they just got better, and the Jaguars are rebuilding, with more moves likely to come. Stay tuned.
