2020 Draft Class Review: #23 Denver Broncos

I was a big fan of this class at the conclusion of the draft, but it’s fairly underwhelming four years later.

Jerry Jeudy was selected to be a WR1, and he’s shown flashes, but he just can’t quite make that leap. His numbers are those of a good WR2, and at this point I don’t think he will ever take that leap. He hasn’t had much consistency at quarterback and has been the subject of trade rumors forever and has expressed his frustration with the offense. He’s on the fifth-year option and will get one more shot for a breakout year and will likely look for a new home next offseason.

Jeudy’s positional draft mate in the second round has had a really rough NFL career so far. K.J. Hamler dealt with hamstring issues as a rookie, then tore his ACL in Week 3 the following year, and had another hamstring injury the next. He tore his pec the following offseason, then suffered from pericarditis shortly after and was released. He spent the season on the Colts practice squad and will look to make the Bills roster in 2024.

Michael Ojemudia started 11 games as a rookie, but dealt with injuries his next two seasons and fell down the depth chart before being released. He had stints with the Bears and Rams and will be competing for a spot on the Cardinals roster in 2024.

Lloyd Cushenberry was an every game starter when healthy his four seasons, playing in 100% of snaps in three of the four. He was the worst graded center as a rookie, and slowly worked his way into a top 10 center in 2023. He may not have a huge market, but you never know.

McTelvin Agim wasn’t anything more than a backup his first two seasons before being released in 2022, where he spent the year on the practice squad. He spent 2023 on the Colts practice squad and is currently with the Texans. A lot of people bought into the Albert Okwuegbunam hype but had a lot of injuries and underwhelming play his first three seasons. He was traded to the Eagles for a sixth-round pick before the ’23 season and had zero catches.

Justin Strnad missed his rookie year, but played all 16 games in 2021 with five starts and 31% of snaps played, but that is it on defense. He exclusively played special teams the last two seasons, averaging 85% of those snaps, and not one played on defense.

Netane Muti has four career starts as an injury fill-in but was released in 2022, and has spent time with the Raiders. Tyrie Cleveland was mainly a backup and practice squadder before joining the Eagles then Colts p-squads. Derrek Tuszka had a practice squad career with the Broncos, Steelers, Titans and Chargers.
