USFL Draft Day One Recap

Day one of the new USFL draft kicked off on February 22nd, with 12 rounds, each position specific.

Round 1: Quarterbacks

Rounds 2-4: Edge rushers

Rounds 5-7: Offensive tackles

Rounds 8-11: Cornerbacks

Round 12: Quarterbacks

Here’s how each team fared.

Birmingham Stallions

  • QB Alex McGough was drafted by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2018 draft. Spent time with the Jaguars, Texans, then back with the Seahawks before being cut before the 2021 season.
  • Aaron Adeoye spent a few seasons with the Ravens before spending part of the 2021 season with the Packers.
  • Brian Allen was a fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2017, and had stints with the Seahawks, Bills, 49ers, Bengals, and ended the 2021 season on the Browns practice squad.
  • Tae Hayes was a 2019 UDFA with the Jaguars, then spent time with the Dolphins, Vikings, Cardinals, and Panthers.
  • Bryan Mills was a 2021 UDFA with the Seahawks and spent time with the Saints, Browns, and Vikings this year.
  • Burns was a 2021 UDFA with the Cardinals and spent the 2021 season with the Jaguars.

Houston Gamblers

  • Clayton Thorson was a fifth-round pick of the Eagles in 2019, and spent a couple seasons with the Cowboys and Giants.
  • Chris Odom was a 2017 UDFA with the Falcons, and spent time with the Packers, Falcons, and Redskins.
  • Ahmad Gooden was a 2019 UDFA with the Broncos, and spent time with the Jets and Bills.
  • Jamar Summers was a 2018 UDFA with the Steelers, and spent time with the Dolphins and Lions.
  • Will Likely was a 2017 Patriots UDFA and has bounced around the CFL since.
  • Howard Wilson was a fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2017, but had several injuries and was cut after the 2018 season, playing in zero games.
  • Kenji Bahar was a 2020 Ravens UDFA and was on and off the practice squad the past two seasons.

New Orleans Breakers

  • Kyle Sloter was a 2017 Broncos UDFA who spent two seasons as the Vikings backup, then some time with the Cardinals, Lions, Bears, and Raiders.
  • Davin Bellamy was a 2018 Texans UDFA who has spent spent with the Bengals, Titans, 49ers, and Chargers.
  • Marquis Lucas is a 2016 Bills UDFA who spent time with the Vikings, Falcons and Buccaneers. Hasn’t been in the NFL since 2017.
  • Adonis Alexander was a 2018 Supplemental draft pick of the Redskins, and also spent time with the Rams, 49ers, and Saints.
  • Derrick Jones was a sixth-round pick of the Jets in 2017, and also spent time with the Packers and Texans.

Tampa Bay Bandits

  • Jordan Ta’amu was a 2019 Texans UDFA who notably spent time with the Chiefs and Lions and later with Washington and the Panthers.
  • Tyler Catalina was a 2017 Redskins UDFA and spent three seasons there as a backup. He also spent time with the Vikings and Panthers.
  • Corbin Kaufusi was a 2019 Saints UDFA and had spent time with the Jets and 49ers.
  • Juwann Bushell-Beatty was a 2019 Redskins UDFA and spent time with the Cowboys and Panthers.
  • Christian Campbell was a sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in 2018, and spent time with the Saints and 49ers.

Michigan Panthers

  • As first pick of the draft, Shea Patterson was a 2020 Chiefs UDFA then spent time with the CFL.
  • Cavon Walker was a 2018 Bears UDFA and spent time with the Chiefs and Steelers.
  • Keith Williams was a sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2011, and also spent time with the Bills and the Arena Football League.
  • Teton Saltes was a 2021 Jets UDFA.
  • Jameson Houston was a 2020 Browns UDFA and spent time with the Panthers, Eagles, and Jaguars.
  • One of the biggest names of the draft, former Broncos first-round pick Paxton Lynch was the final pick of the 12th round. He has four career starts, all with Denver. He also spent time with the Seahawks, Steelers, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL.

New Jersey Generals

  • Garrett McGhin was a 2019 Bills UDFA and has spent time with the Panthers, Bills, and Jaguars.
  • Terry Poole was a fourth-round pick of the Seahawks in 2015, and has also spent time with the Dolphins, Texans, as well as a couple stints in the XFL and CFL.
  • De’Vante Bausby was a 2015 Bears UDFA, where he spent three seasons as a practice squad/active roster bubble player. He spent two seasons with the Eagles, and two seasons with the Broncos, with six career starts under his belt.
  • Trae Elston was a 2016 Saints UDFA and has spent time with the Buccaneers, Browns, Bills, Eagles, Dolphins, and the CFL.
  • David Rivers was a 2017 Packers UDFA and has spent time with the Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins, and in the XFL and CFL.

Philadelphia Stars

  • Freedom Akinmoladun was a 2019 Giants UDFA and spent a couple seasons with the Bengals, then parts of 2021 with the Titans and Jets.
  • Carroll Phillips was a 2017 Jaguars UDFA and has spent some active roster time with the Colts and Redskins and a short stint with the Falcons.
  • Channing Stribling was a 2017 Browns UDFA, and has spent time with the Colts, 49ers, Chargers, and the AAF, XFL, and CFL.
  • Mazzi Wilkins was a 2019 Buccaneers UDFA who spent two seasons on and off their active roster and practice squad. Spent parts of 2021 with the Cardinals and Ravens practice squads.
  • Bradley Sylve went undrafted in 2016 and later signed with the Bills. He had a stint with the Saints before spending time in the AAF and XFL.
  • Case Cookus was a 2020 Giants UDFA and spent time with the Broncos, Vikings, and Raiders.

Pittsburgh Maulers

  • Kyle Lauletta was a fourth-round pick of the Giants in 2018, and has spent time with the Eagles, Falcons, Browns, and Jaguars.
  • Isaiah Battle was a 2015 Supplemental draft pick of the Rams, and has spent time with the Chiefs, Seahawks, and Panthers.
  • Terrell Bonds went undrafted in 2018 and later signed with the Ravens, spending two seasons on their practice squad and active roster.
  • Josh Love was a 2020 Rams UDFA and spent time with the Panthers.
